With “This is what you do” from Bethel building up the anticipation in the room, there was no denying it, this was going to be something spectacular. With every second passing you could feel the Holy Spirit filling up the room. The tears that ran could only be topped by the amount of smiles. No sad tears today, only an overwhelming feeling of happiness as Simoné started to walk down the aisle. Estiaan’s reaction to his bride was one of the most touching and true things that made everyone in the room follow suit in balling like we’ve never been at a wedding before.
These two happened to meet on campus one fine day through some mutual friends. While Simoné developed a liking in Estiaan at another wedding, timing just seemed to be off. But they drove past each other daily in Mackenzie street near campus, him on his bicycle, her in her Rav. Sometimes they waved…
About three years later Simoné made a bold status update on facebook “Wees net bietjie braaf!”, not intending it to be aimed at him, but he took the bait and they finally had their first coffee date, and that was it. Less than a year later Estiaan gave Simoné a Martin guitar and a ring with a big question attached to it. And she said yes.
They got married at Verkykerskop in the Free State on the 18th of April. This was something so special that few words could capture it. There was rain and there was thunder, but there was also praise and worship and there was dancing. There was laughing, crying and even a flashmob. But most of all there was a focus on God and on what the day and the promises made really meant.
I doubt there was a dry eye in the house and a soul not touched by their personal vows.
I am so blessed to have been there for their big day and I couldn’t be happier by how their story unfolded in front of my camera.
Here is their wedding day, I hope it grabs your heart the way it did mine.
